Home Care Packages and meal preparation
Getting some help at home can enable you to live independently in your own home for as long as possible.
The Australian Government subsidises the cost of home support services that you can receive in the comfort of your own home. What you need to pay depends on your services and in some cases, your financial situation.
If you are eligible, your Home Care Package could cover the cost of meal preparation and delivery, equivalent to up to 70% of the total cost of your order. You will pay a co-payment of around 30% to cover the cost of ingredients.
You might be able to get:
- Help with meal preparation (including special diets for health, religious, cultural or other reasons)
- Meal delivery services (excluding the cost of food).
Depending on your eligibility, you could access this service:
- on its own, through the Commonwealth Home Support Programme, or
- with other services, as part of a Home Care Package.
With Home Care Package support, it may be affordable to enjoy the convenience of having healthy, delicious meals freshly prepared and delivered to your door.
To get started, ask your Home Care Package provider to make one of the providers your meal delivery service of choice.
